Soft Tissue Therapy
You will be sent a confirmation email. Inside the email will be two links to follow. The first link is an intake form that provides us with details of your current health. The second link is an informed consent form that includes essential information about your treatment, its benefits, and potential risks.
The informed consent form is designed to provide the necessary information to decide about your session. Please read it carefully, and feel free to ask any questions before signing.
The therapist will guide you through postural and movement assessments during your session. These assessments identify any imbalances in your posture or movement contributing to your condition. To determine your current level of function, the therapist will perform active and passive tests to find your joint ranges of motion, muscle strength, and length. Before beginning the treatment and with your consent, the therapist will assess the condition of your tissues by using palpation techniques with their hands.
Overall, the initial assessment is a crucial part of the treatment. Before beginning the session, the therapist will discuss each assessment aspect with you.
When receiving a soft tissue treatment, it’s essential to wear clothing that allows easy access to the areas the therapist needs to work on. Soft tissue therapy typically targets specific muscle groups, so wearing appropriate attire will ensure both your comfort and the effectiveness of the treatment. Here are some general guidelines on what to wear:
- Comfortable Athletic Clothing: It’s best to wear comfortable, loose-fitting athletic clothing, such as shorts and a sports bra or a tank top. These options provide easy access to the areas commonly worked on during a soft tissue treatment, like the legs, back, and shoulders.
- Minimal and Easily Adjustable Clothing: Avoid wearing multiple layers of clothing with zippers, buttons, or belts that can get in the way. The therapist needs to have direct contact with your skin and muscles.
- Remove Jewellery and Accessories: Before your treatment, remove any jewellery, watches, or other accessories that could interfere with the therapist’s work or cause discomfort.
- Communication: Communicate with your therapist about any concerns or areas you want them to focus on. They will ensure you are adequately covered and comfortable while addressing your needs.
- Towels or Sheets: In professional settings, therapists typically provide draping using towels or sheets to cover areas not currently being worked on, maintaining your privacy and ensuring your comfort.
Ultimately, the clothing you wear during a soft tissue session should balance, allowing the therapist to access the necessary muscles and making you feel comfortable and modest. Communicating with your therapist about your preferences and concerns is essential to ensure a positive and practical experience.
If you’re going away on holiday and unable to schedule a session in a specific month, that’s fine; you can make that session up the following week. We would require at least four weeks’ notice of any changes to our scheduled treatments.
An invoice will be sent before each session or treatment block. Payment is required to be paid before each session or treatment block starts. Bank transfers are the preferred method of payment. If you’re unable to pay by bank transfer. Please get in touch with us.
You must contact us with at least 24 hours notice to cancel or change your appointment.
